Keep It Simple

This Thanksgiving, Tap Into Abundance Consciousness

Many of us live in a state of 'scarcity' thinking. We find it incredibly easy to imagine the worst happening. We also feel extremely justified in feeling that way because we are bombarded daily with extremely negative and disturbing news. All of this negativity confirms our belief that, well, that life sucks and then we die.

My personal theory is that this is a very definite 'chicken and the egg' scenario. I believe we get all that confirmation because our belief is so strong, not that our belief is strong because of all that evidence.

For example, have you ever bought a new car (or really, really wanted a particular model)? Suddenly, you're driving down the road and every second car seems to be the car of your choice. Is that because all of a sudden there ARE MORE cars of that make and model out there? Or is it because your consciousness is more TUNED IN to that car?

It's the same way with energy. We all know how effective it is with negative energy, but the truth is it works just as effectively with positive energy. It does help, however, if we are familiar with the feeling we are going for. We all know we want to be happy, or joyful, or confident, but it's hard to truly experience the feeling because it's not a feeling we're used to.

How do we shift from scarcity to abundance? One way is to start practicing 'feeling' abundant. Thanksgiving in the States is a perfect time of year to tap into that feeling, and I'm sure there are other holidays around the world that would allow this same experience.

When we think Thanksgiving, we tend to think of food, and family, and football (usually in that order!). There is a feeling of 'fullness' that comes with that image. We actually find ourselves smiling that 'satisfied' grin associated with Cheshire cats just at the memory. These physical responses just come unbidden. In fact, if we 'try' to feel that happiness, it tends to dissipate. The key is to 'remember' the feeling and not 'try' to feel it.

Make this coming Thanksgiving into an abundance-consciousness day. Let the feelings that come up fill your entire body. Enjoy the holiday to its fullest and create an anchor that you will be able to tap into all year round. It is so easy to live in abundance consciousness when we have a deep, full and personal experience of what that means.

Trump That Thought!

Have you ever had a song that keeps running through your head and drives you crazy? That happened to me on a recent car trip. When I mentioned it to my husband, he told me I needed a 'Trump' song, one that would not only over-ride the annoying song, but would also be one I would enjoy hearing repeatedly.

I immediately realized that creating a 'trump' would work not just on annoying song lyrics, but on any negative thought that takes control of your mind. It works the same way as in cards: Once a trump suit is declared, any card in that suit will win over a card not of that suit. For example, if Diamonds are trump, the 2 of Diamonds will win over the Ace of Spades, which is normally the highest card of any suit.

For this to work effectively, it's important to declare the trump in advance. In other words, you want to have your positive replacement ready so that the moment you realize a thought is obsessing you and taking you on a downward spiral, you can 'pull out the trump'.

For example, if you find yourself thinking a negative thought such as 'I'm no good at this skill',trump that thought with 'Well, maybe, but I'm great at Skiing!' or even something unrelated like 'Yeah, but I was really awesome in that High School play. Everybody loved me!' The key is to not fight the thought, just bring a more powerful and personal thought to bear on it.

Here are ten possible items to use for 'trump'. Remember, the trump doesn't have to be connected to the thought you are trying to eliminate. It just has to have a strong pull and be up-lifting.

  1. A song, preferably something light and happy. 'Jingle Bells' or 'Happy Birthday' would be perfect because it is almost impossible to sing either of these without smiling.
  2. A list of things you're grateful for. Again, it's very hard to be in gratitude and not smile.
  3. A list of people or animals you love.
  4. A list of people or animals who love you.
  5. 5 of the most exotic places you'd like to visit.
  6. A picture of someone or something you love, or something that's just too cute for words that makes you go 'Ahhhh'.
  7. Remembering a moment you're proud of, no matter how long ago it took place.
  8. Remembering a time when you were extremely happy and filled with joy, such as when your children were born.
  9. Your favorite joke, the one that makes you giggle even though you've heard it a thousand times.
  10. Remembering the smile on the person's face that you let go ahead of you in line.

Principle #25: MASTER YOUR CRAFT
The easiest way to become successful? Become the best at what you do.


CLARIFICATION

It is no longer enough to just be 'competent' at what you do. In order to distinguish yourself and truly know success, you need to become a master at whatever you do. This is especially true if you are trying to attract what you want to you. We all want to be around the 'best in class'.

KEY POINTS

  1. A big component of mastery is innovation. You don't just do what you've always done. You constantly seek ways to do things better, faster, more efficiently, more effectively.

  2. Effective vs. Efficient. To be efficient means getting the job done in a smart, timely manner. To be effective means getting the 'right' job done well, whether efficiently or not. Combining the two is incredibly powerful, but if you have to choose between the two, always choose effective.

  3. Another component of mastery is learning, both your learning (from everything and everyone around you) and the learning of others. You may be teaching others, or sharing your learning, or just learning what not to do and who not to waste time with because they like things the way they are.

  4. Innovation vs. Improvement. To innovate means to revolutionize, or at least introduce something new and important into the mix. When you improve something, you make what you have better, in small incremental stages. Innovation is evolutionary, which is very attractive.

  5. Assimilation vs. Integration. To assimilate means to absorb, to be nourished by what you are learning, eating or experiencing. Whatever you absorb is incorporated into you. Integration implies linking or bonding with something else and creating something new in the process. Both assimilation and integration are powerful concepts that a 'master' embraces.
