You figure out what. Let God figure out how.
Everyone knows about visualisation and how it helps to get crystal clear about what we want and to imagine ourselves emotionally connecting to the feeling of having that particular goal.
The process I recommend includes blueskying all the qualities of the item you want (ideal job, ideal relationship, etc.) and then identifying which of those qualities are non-negotiable. Non-negotiable means that this is something you will not compromise on and that it is essential that the ideal has it or otherwise it’s not ideal. As a rule, I recommend that the number of qualities determines the number of non-negotiables. 10-20% is a healthy number.
Once you’ve identified your ideal and the non-negotiables, it’s time to link emotion to that desired outcome. There are many ways to do that. I usually recommend a ‘vision letter’, a letter written from 3-12 months in the future, telling a friend you haven’t seen in a long time all about what it’s like to live with your ideal. The secret here is to describe in as much emotional detail as possible all the good feelings you’ll have once the ideal is part of your life.
There are a few other steps (like making sure it’s something you want and clearing any unconscious negative beliefs around the item), but the real secret to actually manifesting your ideal is to let go of the ‘how’. For example, if you are looking for financial security, it’s enough for you to get clear about what you’d do with the money and how it will feel to be able to do that. Deciding that the money will come from winning the lottery puts a major damper on the process, inhibiting all the other possible ways to make money. Since the ideal is now linked to the lottery, the focus on ‘how’ takes over and you spend all your money on lottery tickets.
This is a very important concept. The trick is to let go of control long enough to allow God and the Universe to figure out how to make your dream a reality. Then you can focus on visualising the benefits of the dream and open up the flow of energy to any of the thousands of ways to receive money (legally of course!).
As I learned this concept, I used to say this little prayer to help me give up control. “Lord, let Thy will and not my will be done.” Perhaps it will help you as well!
