Distinction of the Day: charge neutral vs charge up/down
Charge neutral describes the tone of voice that has no edge or high or low energy to it. It’s a
useful communication style when communicating when you want to help the other person make a huge change or to see something big.
Charge neutral has an almost blase’ feel, kind of like describing a boring weather day. “Oh, it’s nice today, isn’t it?” “Oh, your life’s a mess, isn’t it?” “Oh, we need to do a 180 here, don’t we?” One can be charge neutral and still very passionate. One becomes charge neutral (rather than charge neutral being a technique) when they are comfortable with themselves, aren’t performing, see that the universe is perfect, and so on. One can care a tremendous amount and still be charge neutral.
Charge up (loud, reactionary, edge in voice, hyper, concerned, problem-oriented) and charge down (patronizing, parenting, diminishing, downing, passive) are what a person shifts from to become charge neutral. Note: When you are charge neutral, you can get away with anything (as in saying what needs to be said).
Action Step: Pay attention to the tone of your voice and not just what you are saying. People respond to the tone and not to the words. Try this out for yourself. Say the meanest thing you can think of in the sexiest way that you can. See what kind of response you get. Where else could you use this awareness? P.S. If sexy isn’t comfortable (and depending on the situation it might not be approrpriate), just go for the sweetest, kindest, baby-reassuring voice you’ve got.
Let me know how what insights you get!

@Mary. Thank you so much for the kind words. I’m honored that you feel so strongly about my blog.
I must admit that I have started Eckhart’s “Power of Now” a dozen times. For some reason, I can’t stick with it. However, I know enough about it to know I agree with him 100%. Just one of those strange blocks we sometimes get.
Hope you come back and visit often!
