Is that a need? or a want?
When I work with clients on the 8 elements (the lack of which create obstacles to wholeness, to being your best self), I work around the ideas of needing and wanting.
I usualy start with, using time as an example, a statement like the following: “I have all the time I need and want”. Part of that process is people saying the statement out loud, then my asking for their first thought or feeling.
Almost no one ever feels like that is a true statement. They feel that they never have enough time!! And that creates fear and overwhelm.
When we start the process of breaking down the elements and I switch to “I have all the time I need”, those very same people usually agree that this IS a true statement. They feel they do have all the time they need, even if they are mis-managing it a bit. And when we isolate the statement, they can see and feel it.
Next comes the statement “I have all the time I want”. This time there is usually a different reaction to both the first and second statements. Most people agree that this isn’t exactly true, BUT because they now realize needs are met, there is not the desperate feeling attached to this statement.
When we separate what we need (and realize those needs are in fact being met), it’s so much easier to create the time for what we want. In this space, we are ‘in attraction’ mode because we are no longer focused on the lack of time.
From this inner place of peace, we can now develop a workable action plan that will help us bridge the gap between need and want.
I’ve simplified the process, but this is how it works. Why not try this 3 step clarifying statement on what you feel the most lack of: time, space, love, money, vitality, purposeful action, strong sense of self, or positive self regard.
