The VIVA Mother
Now that I’ve learned how to include videos, I have the perfect opportunity to add more impact to an article that’s been in my head forever. When you watch the “VIVA Mother commercial”, pay attention to the little boy’s eyes.
I’ve always loved this commercial because it exemplifies exactly how a negative belief can start. In the 2 seconds when the mother yells “Jimmy, what’s wrong with you?!?” you see a small kid who thinks his world is about to fall apart sigh with relief. Years of therapy averted by the mother spraying water back at him!
It’s those little unconscious reactions to events that end up shaping other people’s lives. This mother found a great (albeit messy!) way to say “You’re ok just the way you are”.
Where have you said or done something that has changed someone’s opinion about themselves? How can you turn it around to a positive? Let me know what comes up for you.
